The dismantling the Broncos suffered at the hands of the Raiders in Week 7 left coach Josh McDaniels apologizing to everyone, players embarrassed, and some in the media wondering whether the coach has lost his team.
It also left once voice — Mark Kiszla of The Denver Post – to suggest the answer is … Tim Tebow. You read that right.
Kiszla didn’t just make a public call for the Tebow era should begin. He writes starter Kyle Orton “is done” as the Broncos quarterback and can “never again” inspire real hope in Denver.
“He just doesn’t know it yet,” he writes. “So what’s the hang-up getting the Tim Tebow era started? Coach Josh McDaniels doesn’t have the guts to tell his players their NFL season is dead.”
He added, “The humiliation of a 59-14 loss to Oakland will forever be stamped like an “L” on the forehead of Orton so long as he wears a Broncos uniform. Whether he starts one or 12 more games for Denver doesn’t really matter. Orton can never again inspire real hope in this town.”
Can only Tebow save McDaniels in Denver? There is not an analyst who can say that with a straight face and most feel that Tebow is only ready for spot duty.
Lindsay Jones writes Tebow’s absence was the prevailing question late in the game. But if McDaniels is convinced Tebow isn’t ready, he only vaguely alluded to it.
A sense of panic seems to have descended on Denver. So, Broncos fans, would a switch to Tebow silence the McDaniels haters, or simply seal his fate?

Manning is so close, but those interceptions
Are you kidding with these interceptions, Eli?
Giants QB Eli Manning tossed an interception with just under three minutes left in a blowout — his third of the game. Hopefully that did not keep you from winning or losing this week.
But these interceptions keep Manning from being an elite fantasy quarterback.
Manning has done a great job of making fantasy stars of WRs Hakeem Nicks and Steve Smith. And even WR Mario Manningham has some value.
But those interceptions keep Manning from making that leap. Manning had four touchdown passes and more than 300 passing yards, but he still had less than 25 points in NFL.com standard leagues. And what’s worse — and I don’t know if this is my imagination — but Manning seems to lead the world in potential interceptions dropped by the opposing team. It’s just crazy.

The Cream of the NFC Crop
In the NFC this season, there is going to be a lot to watch for whether your watching the games at home on your flat screen or you watch football online on your laptop. Will the New Orleans Saints repeat? Can the Vikings and Brett Farve get over the hump and into the Super Bowl? And how about other teams such as the Packers, Falcons or Cowboys breaking out? It should be an interesting year, especially because we begin the 2010 NFL season with many more questions then answers.
Let's get this out of the way first: top NFL draft pick Sam Bradford is going to have a long season with the St. Louis Rams, as is number two pick Ndamukong Suh of the Lions and number three pick Gerald McCoy of the Buccaneers. All three of these teams have a long way to go before they are anywhere near playoff contention. On the other hand, most experts agree that the four NFC teams who have the best chance of making it to Super Bowl XLV are New Orleans, Dallas, Minnesota and Green Bay. These are the four teams that you should pay attention to when you watch football . While all have big question marks thanks to injury, age and mental strength, all four have the components, at least on paper, to make a run. Green Bay and Minnesota have the quarterbacks and defense, the Cowboys have the swagger and the drive to play in the Super Bowl in their home stadium. The Saints have the same heart and coaching that made them last year's feel good Super Bowl champs.
Of course, anyone who happens to watch football at home knows, that every year there are surprises. Teams that find a way to win and make deep runs. While teams like Philadelphia, Atlanta, Chicago and Washington have raised a few eyebrows in the pre-season. One really interesting division to watch is the NFC west. While the Rams will find the bottom of the division yet again, the Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals all have a chance to either win the division, or least 10 games.
The 49ers have been the dominant pick for the last few years, is this the season for them to finally break through? Does no Kurt Warner mean no playoffs for the Cardinals? And can Pete Carroll really turn an underachieving Seahawks team into a perennial winner? Only a 16 game season will tell. All in all though, 2010 should be a great season to watch football online, on television or at the stadium. Expect a few teams to rise to the top towards the end of the season, but no one to really run away with the title.
